Spoiler warning (WTH rev2.5 / rev3.x future arc): This page summarizes major late-arc outcomes, including the Rainru’s handoff, Ezra’s destruction, and Akima’s capture.
Summary
The Second Battle of Eveny marks the first time Rainru’s hiding method is publicly exposed at Sanctus—only for a Jethro-forward manifestation of Flarion to seize the sword by force. The engagement fractures local defenses, draws in dragon-scale reinforcements, and culminates in a distant catastrophic strike that obliterates much of the city of Ezra. Flarion withdraws with Akima Ciberling in custody and the Rainru removed from local control, leaving Eveny destabilized and the wider conflict irreversibly escalated.

Background and context
Eveny’s earlier conflicts established the region as contested ground between Templar-aligned actors and forces attempting to control or contain them. By the time of the Second Battle, the Rainru is no longer mythic abstraction but actionable leverage: whoever controls it can shift the balance of power.
Forza Ninetails’s presence on Eveny is significant not only politically, but metaphysically—placing a known Jethro-touched combatant near an artifact and an apex predator capable of exploiting that resonance.
The Rainru disclosure (Bezzi’s hiding method)
The incident begins with a formal meeting in Sanctus’s Grand Hall (with Rio Narro present). Bezekira reveals that the Rainru is hidden “inside” Bezzi, secured in a pocket-dimension-like void for which Bezzi’s body acts as the key. Practically, this means Bezekira can pull the sword into existence within her immediate proximity, without a conventional physical vault.
The revelation is immediately followed by a severe shift in Forza Ninetails’s condition—hallucinations, color distortion, and a sharp anxiety episode described as the Shard of Jethro inside Forza becoming “excited” in response. Almost immediately after, Flarion manifests by violent intrusion into the space. Contemporary framing treats this appearance as Jethro-forward: comparable to Forza’s own unrestrained “dark episodes,” except here presented as full-on Jethro riding Flarion.
The Sanctus engagement (artifact seizure, not occupation)
What follows plays less like a territorial battle than a targeted extraction:
In rev2.5’s framing, Forza Ninetails’s continued panic is explicitly interpreted as proximity resonance—the Shard reacting to Jethro’s presence at the surface nearby. When Flarion is suppressed-state, that same psychic pressure is described as absent or greatly reduced.
Multi-front conflict: soldiers, dragons, and internal fracture
As Neverborn Templar soldiers and guards engage, reinforcements arrive, including lesser Templar dragons. Flarion dispatches multiple dragons midair through direct physical violence (including neck-breaking kills), remaining focused on creating a viable escape window rather than holding the plaza.
At roughly the same time, Forza Ninetails regains enough composure to re-enter the exterior fight—only to be intercepted by Akima Ciberling, who arrives armored and prepared. Forza Ninetails and Akima Ciberling clash against each other. Akima’s posture is framed as power-seeking: treating Flarion (a demigod figure of myth/legend) as a gateway to greater power rather than an existential threat to contain. This fracture ensures there is no unified defense at the moment Flarion is most dominant.
The green dragon intervention (unknown identity)
A more regal green dragon—adorned in ornate armor—joins the engagement. Bezekira’s reaction (“why is she here…”) frames the dragon’s presence as unexpected and personally charged. Unlike Flarion’s treatment of other dragons, Flarion does not appear to pursue an immediate kill on the green dragon, instead fending them off with visible irritation. The reason for this divergence is not established in-text and remains unknown at this point in the narrative.
The Ezra event (catastrophic escalation)
After knocking the green dragon away, Flarion raises an energy shield around himself and condenses a massive energy sphere, then releases it as a distant strike on Ezra, obliterating much of the city.
Although the shockwave is felt across a wide radius, the Sanctus battle site is understood to have been miles away from Ezra’s ground zero; as a result, there were likely few (if any) fatalities at the immediate battle site itself. Bezekira is described as raising shielding over those within reach and across the Sanctus plaza/temple to prevent structural loss, while the green dragon specifically shields Forza Ninetails with their wings—an act that also triggers Forza’s later suspicion about the dragon’s identity.
Aftermath and outcomes
In the immediate aftermath:
- The Rainru is taken by Flarion.
- Bezekira is incapacitated, removing a stabilizing actor from the situation.
- Ezra is destroyed, with significant loss of life and infrastructure concentrated at/near the city.
- Akima Ciberling is captured and removed from Eveny by Flarion.
- Forza Ninetails survives (notably protected during the outer shockwave effects).
In the short-term political aftermath within Sanctus, Forza Ninetails is placed under guard and restricted to quarters on suspicion that Forza functioned—wittingly or not—as a “scout” whose reaction helped expose Rainru’s hiding method. That suspicion later relaxes as Bezekira concludes the event was manipulative rather than collaborative. Rio Narro’s presence continues into the aftermath, providing support and helping stabilize Forza’s resolve against Jethro.
Open questions (non-spoiler framing)
- Why does Flarion treat the green dragon differently than other dragons present?
- What is the strategic intent behind taking Akima specifically?
- How does the Ezra strike reshape Eveny’s political and logistical realities?
